Due to the low temperature in winter, it is difficult to start a diesel generator set in winter compared to summer. Here is why it is difficult to start a diesel generator set in winter. 1. The viscosity of lubricating oil greatly increases at low temperatures, even when it solidifies, resulting in an increase in engine starting resistance, which cannot reach the minimum rotational speed required for engine starting+(typically above 100 r/min (rpm)).

2. Due to the decrease in starting speed, the leakage of compressed air increases, and the heat dissipation from the cylinder wall increases, resulting in a significant decrease in the temperature and pressure of the air at the end of compression, which increases the delay period for diesel ignition and even prevents combustion in severe cases.

3. The viscosity of diesel fuel at low temperatures increases, resulting in a decrease in injection speed. In addition, the swirl speed, temperature, and pressure of air at the end of compression are relatively low, resulting in poor atomization quality of diesel fuel injected into the cylinder, making it difficult to quickly form a good combustible gas with the air and ignite in a timely manner, even failing to ignite, resulting in difficulties in starting.
